Park-urka is a project born from the collaboration between the laboratory controprogetto and the association LABuat (LABoratorioUrbanoArchitetturaTaranto), promoted from Principi Attivi Giovani Idee per una Puglia Migliore and supported by Municipality of Taranto.
The old city of Taranto, from years interested in urban plans, is living a hard moment of transformation.
Above all Largo San Gaetano, thanks to Cantiere Maggese, urban lab with spaces dedicated to the creativity promoted and financed from the regional program Bollenti Spiriti who will come inaugurated to short, has been introduced like a real builing yard where is possible to smell the change.
Controprogetto, through a workshop of participated planning and construction with inhabitants of the quarter, children, volunteers and artists wanted to exalt this change, re-inventing the public space through stratifications and tanglings, making a different and original building yard: a playground yard.
The small playground, realized in record times of four days, is made up of a main structure in form of large octopus with slide and scrambled up, swinging chairs, sitting and a small theater box.
The realization of Park-urka has been possible thanks to the collaboration with the inhabitants of Isola Borgo Antico, through the realization of the paving, the logistic organization, the organization of suppers en plein air and above all great dialogue.
The experience more important has been the relationship with the inhabitants of the place, transmitting sense of belongings of the public space like natural extension of the private one.
After ten days from the beginning of the workshop, the playground has been completed and first opened to the presence of the local authorities that have appreciated the originality and the creativity of the realization.
